Crime Prevention Design Advisor Training

Guenter Stummvoll participated in the professional training at the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) in Harrogate (England) to become a Crime Prevention Design Advisor (CPDA).

This 2-weeks course included intensive training in the concepts "Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)", "Defensible Space" and "Secured by Design". In guest lectures official planning guidelines fror CPDAs ("Safer Places") were discussed and the following topics were tought:

  • Environments and crime
  • Counter Terrorism and the role of the Crime Prevention Design Advisor (CPDA)
  • Working with plans
  • The planning process (Prof. Ted Kitchen)
  • CCTV
  • Lighting
  • Urban Design
  • The role of the CPDA
  • School security

The participants worked on several practical exercises on the basis of field trips to Leeds.
